Welcome to the Ghostworks - welcome to the future! That's right! You're now entering the World of Tomorrow! The year is 2099, and much has changed since the times of Spider-Man, Captain America and The Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and Professor Xavier's X-Men!!! The future is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there! The United States government is now little more than a figurehead as the common man bows to the heads of the industry! Corporations such as Alchemax, Stark-Fujikawa, Synthia, and Pixel control the country and possess a vast territory of land all over the world to exploit. This is a world where justice can be bought with a limitless black card, where those licensed can sell the latest in designer drugs, and protection has a price. Now people look back at the myths of the Heroic Age for inspiration and salvation, praying to heroes such as the mighty Thor, and the amazing Spider-Man. This is a world with no heroes of its own. Welcome to the future of the Marvel Universe. However, with the first appearance of costumed adventurers in decades inspires others to rebel against the industrial despotism it looks as if the people of 2099 finally have hope. . .

Really gets you where it counts, eh? As I'm sure you now realize Marvel's 2099 line was very exciting until a series of dismissals left our beloved universe without its heart. Marvel had let go of the man behind the scenes, the man who created the image - Joey Cavalieri. In protest, most of the original 2099 staffers also left including Peter David and Andrew Wildman. The few remaining books were taken over by new writers and soon headed toward cancellation. Soon after Marvel Comics released, which bombed with the fans. Horrible art, inexcusable continuity problems, and weak plots left the 2099 fans isolated and angered. Sales for the title were extremely poor and it ended with issue number eight. However, a group of 2099 fans bands together to create the 2099 Underground, an ambitious project which continued the 2099 titles as if the World of Tomorrow had never happened. Essentially they set out to treat the series the way they deserved to be treated. Since them various 2099 UG titles have been released, many of which you can find in the Monthly/Bi-Monthly Titles section or the Mini-Series/One-Shots section. Also, several web pages have been created in honor of the 2099 books, many of which include 2099 UG sites.

You can find them in the 2099 Links section of the Ghostworks. You'll be happy to find that the futureverse has not died and that you can find many of your favorite characters right here. Also, Marvel Comics is about to release written by Len Kaminski, the writer of Marvel's Ghost Rider 2099! There are many rumors concerning the fate of 2099, and this site will keep you up to date on those. Also, there is much going on in the 2099 UG with new stories, and new projects coming from our esteemed writing staff. You can find out about any news concerning Marvel's 2099 or the 2099 Underground in the Ghostworks' news webazine What's the Buzz!?, so check there once a week!
